Launched with little fanfare in 2022, the podcast series I produce for the Library of Mistakes didn't take long to establish itself as one of the most popular finance podcasts on the planet. Indeed, with an average of 5,000+ downloads per episode, we are now among the top 2% most popular of ALL podcasts worldwide.
As a charity, we put the series together on a shoestring and the audio quality of some of our dial-in contributors is not always studio sharp. But that doesn't matter when the content is so strong. I love slipping on my headphones for each episode to listen to Russell Napier (a brilliant interviewer) quizzing fascinating authors across the field of financial history.
Many of the episodes appeal to anyone who is curious about history, psychology and culture, others are pitched more at financial specialists. But, across the board, it's a growing treasure trove of thought-provoking and important discussions.
In just 30 episodes, we've already featured two former Chancellors of the Exchequer, Kwasi Kwarteng and the late Alistair Darling – Alistair actually opened the new library and the series includes his terrific opening speech reflecting on the global banking crisis.
